Marcus Mitchell ran for over 200 yards for the second time this season and Caden Gonzalez passed for over 200 yards, but Flagler Palm Coast lost a shootout with Nease, 58-43, on Oct. 13 at the Panthers' home field.
Mitchell rushed for 237 yards on 26 carries and scored two touchdowns after rushing just five times the previous week because of a hamstring strain.
“We had to go with what was woking for us and he had a great week of practice,” FPC coach Daniel Fish said.
Gonzalez completed 22 of 38 passes for 203 yards with a touchdown.
“We had 14 dropped passes,” Fish said. "But Caden had an awesome game. And our offensive line looked really good. We didn't give up a sack."
The Bulldogs started five freshmen and just one senior on defense, and the inexperience showed, Fish said. Nease quarterback Bryce Frick threw five touchdown passes, while running back K.J. Perry ran for 202 yards and two touchdowns.
The Bulldogs fell to 2-5, 0-2 in District 4-4S, with their fourth loss in a row. Nease improved to 5-3, 1-0.
The Bulldogs finish the season with three straight home games, starting with their homecoming game on Friday, Oct. 20 against Celebration.
