26-year-old Ormond Beach woman killed in crash on A1A

Police report Wyatt Dickerson, 26, was traveling 'at a high rate of speed' when he crashed into the vehicle in which the woman was a passenger.

A 26-year-old Ormond Beach woman was killed after a car crash on State Road A1A between Harvard Drive and Milsap Road on Wednesday, May 1, Ormond Beach Police report.

The woman, Mary Pezza, was a passenger in a car driving northbound in the left lane when 26-year-old Wyatt Dickerson, who was traveling "at a high rate of speed" crashed into Pezza's vehicle, sending it airborne and into the opposing southbound lanes around 7:54 a.m., according to OBPD. 

Despite life-saving efforts, Pezza died at the scene of the crash. The driver of the vehicle she was in, who was not identified by police, was transported to the hospital in serious condition.

Dickerson, of Ormond Beach, was cleared by medical personnel on the scene, and all lanes of A1A were shut down as police investigated the crash, but were reopened later that day. 

Charges for Dickerson, police stated, are pending.
