Ormond Beach resident Kristopher Doski, 29, was sent to the hospital with serious injuries Tuesday, following a crash in Alachua County that killed one.

Doski was a passenger of a 1998 GMC 1500, driven by Ronald W. Sapp, of Lake Butler. Michael P. Hammer, of Lake City, was also a passenger. The car was traveling southbound on Interstate 75, at the 384 Mile Marker, when it passed a semi truck, driven by James. A. Gloss, of Longwood.

The GMC stopped abruptly for unknown reasons, causing the semi to collide with its rear bumper. Both vehicles traveled off the roadway and onto the west shoulder. The GMC then overturned and came to rest on its left side.

The semi kept traveling on the shoulder, until it struck a group of trees, coming to final rest.

Sapp was pronounced dead on the scene, at 2:04 a.m.

Doski, Hammer and Gloss were all sent to Shands Hospital with serious injuries.

Damages to the truck were estimated at $10,000. The GMC’s damages are estimated at $5,000.
