Marineland Dolphin Adventure hosts kickoff for Flagler County Chamber of Commerce Restaurant Week.

“When visitors eat local, they feel like locals.”

The Flagler County Chamber of Commerce held its second annual Restaurant Week and Kickoff Tasting Event with twenty local restaurants on Thursday, Sept. 10. Marineland Dolphin Adventure hosted the event and held a dolphin presentation to entertain the guests. Guests socialized with the restaurant owners and enjoyed generous samples from each restaurant’s best dishes. This year the event combined Taste of Flagler and the Flagler Restaurant Week into one event.

“Unlike last year, we definitely will not be going out to eat after this,” Lynn Spnik, of Palm Coast, said. The combining of the two events brought a larger crowd and a noticeably different experience for revisiting attendees.

“This event brought together a large variety of food from many mom-and-pop type local restaurants,” Director of Tourism Marketing Amy Lukasik said. “The family owned restaurants give Flagler County a personality and helps visitors feel like locals.”

Last year the event brought in around 300 people. This year numbers reached over 450. Participating restaurants at the event will be having specials from Sept. 11-18. A Flagler Dining Passport can be downloaded at flaglerrestaurantweek.com to be used when eating out at the participating restaurants this week. Each restaurant marked off is one step closer to winning the Grand Prize. Passports should be turned into the Flagler Chamber of Commerce by 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21, for a chance to be the 2015 Flagler Foodie.
