Women of Worship hosted a British High Tea fundraising event for the building of a children’s playground at the First Baptist Church of Bunnell.
Delicious smells from platers of pastries and cups of steamy tea wafted through the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in Bunnell, Saturday, Aug. 29. Pleasant music courtesy of local musician Marvin Clegg set a relaxing tone for the ladies as they enjoyed their tea. The tea party was set into action by event coordinators Marge Ankrom and Barbara Latchney, and with the help of many other volunteers. Women of Worship also helped host the community event. The fundraiser was put into place to build a children’s playground at the First Baptist Church of Bunnell. The event was open to the community and many different woman from a variety of churches were present.
Palm Coast United Methodist Church member Marge Hein attended the fundraiser accompanied by many of her friends. “As soon as I heard it was for the children I was interested right away. Not to mention it is a pleasant day out, and the perfect opportunity to meet different people,” Hein said.
The British High Tea fundraiser raised around $1,500. Altogether the church is looking to raise $40,000 for the building of the playground.
Coordinator Marge Ankrom recognizes that the church still has a long way to go for raising money towards the playground. Undeterred by this monumental task, she looks forward to the future. With the continued support of Women of Worship and the community at large, she is confident that the money will eventually be raised.
