The latest FCAL show takes a deeper look into the artist's inspiration for each artwork submission.
The recent Flagler County Art League “Inspired!” show required artists to reveal what inspired them to create the work of art they submitted, according to a press release.
Many stories were coupled with works of art, such as Beverley Ulrich’s riot of color in “As Things Began” — her abstract Best of Show — an expression of life beginning on Earth.
Bob Teller’s striking First of Show, “Conflagration 9/11” was inspired by the artist’s recent visit to the 9/11 Memorial in New York City. The piece “captured the emotion and realism of the moment,” according to the judge. Another dramatic piece by Colleen Fraser won the People’s Choice Award. The piece titled “Love Me” is a pensive, loving portrait of her grandson who was born with only a thumb on his left hand. Lisa Fisher’s digital art and Second of Show piece, “Parrotdise,” and Judi Wormeck’s Third of Show “Inspired:Tapping,Tapping<Nevermore” piece added fun elemenst to the show.
The show will be on display until July 9. The FCAL Gallery is at City Marketplace, 160 Cypress Point Parkway, Suite A208. Gallery hours are: noon to 4 p.m Monday to Friday; 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday
