A much-needed cemetery cleanup also allowed family members to visit loved ones' graves.
Community volunteers and family members stopped by and helped clean up the Espanola Family Cemetery Saturday, April 1, in Bunnell.
A cleanup day was warranted at the 17-acre burial facility, due to the Hurricane Matthew chaos and the daily wind blowing that tends to knock down tree limbs and blow in debris.
"Some of the cleanup had been done before today, and there will be a little more after this," said Melanie Crews, the contact person for the event. "But the people have just been wonderful. They didn't have to have a connection to anyone buried. It was open to whomever was willing, because the cleaning is hard work. So, the more the merrier."
