Belle Terre Elementary principal teaches parents 'Hokey Pokey' lesson at pre-K graduation
Belle Terre Elementary School VPK students donned blue caps and gowns as they graduated from pre-kindergarten on May 19. Parents and family members had their cameras and phones at the ready as their children sang several songs on the cafeteria stage during the ceremony.
Dr. Terence Culver, the Belle Terre principal, encouraged parents to always remember the "Hokey Pokey" song as a metaphor for their role in their children's lives now.
"You have 12 years with these students to put your whole self in," Culver said. "There's a time when you'll have to take your whole self out. You're going to have to do the 'Hokey Pokey.'"
