Everything from pine needle baskets to cactus jam could be purchased Friday, Nov. 12, at the Flagler Women's Club Holiday Bazaar. All the items for sale were handmade by women in the club. Some items, such as purses crocheted out of plastic grocery bags, were made from recyclables. The club, which has grown from 12 members 65 years ago to 140 members today, uses the proceeds from the annual sale to provide scholarships to Flagler County students and aid the local food banks.

Who says you can't have fun when you're 90? Don't tell Felicia Donato, who joined friends Nov. 18, at the Palm Coast Community Center, one day before becoming a nonagenarian. The small crowd participated in Twistin' Thursday, a new program for seniors put on by the city's parks and recreation department. Director Luann Santangelo said the city is increasing its activities for the community. Music was provided by Music By 'Dream,' a duo comprising Joe Angrosini and Paul Finn, who quipped, 'We've been playing for 100 years.'

The Flagler County Police Athletics League program held a two-day festival Saturday, Nov. 13, and Sunday, Nov. 14, to celebrate the end of its football/cheerleading season. The event raised money to keep playing fees as low as possible. The program will be sending its Midget, Jr. Midget and Pee-Wee Cheer Squads to regional competition over Thanksgiving weekend. Cotton candy and candy apples are not what coaches want their players eating before games. But for the good of the program, the coaches looked the other way. Flagler Palm Coast High School held its annual Fall Carnival Thursday, Nov. 11, through Sunday, Nov. 14, at the school.

Thanks to the Palm Coast Seafood Festival Saturday, Nov. 6, and Sunday, Nov. 7, at Town Center, the endangered species list just got a little longer. The festival drew a crowd so large - about 10,000 adults - that vendors were running out of seafood. While they weren't eating, attendees listened to oldies music, cheered on their favorite hermit crabs, made hats out of newspapers and watched champion dogs track down Frisbees. And resolved to eat only lettuce for the next week.

The Palm Coast Mamas Club celebrated Halloween Saturday, Oct. 30, at Wickline Park, Flagler Beach, with a bounce house, pumpkin painting and a trunk or treat. Superheroes, princesses and goth beauty queens marched around the parking lot, dragging bags of candy - all before nap time.

Elementary students prowled the grounds Thursday, Oct. 28, at Belle Terre Elementary School, trying to scare up candy before Halloween. The children fished for prizes, tossed rings on what looked like Captain Hook's spare hand closet and fire balls at Matanzas High School football player. Then, everyone rushed home to eat candy so they'd have energy for school the next day.
