Deputies were led on a chase through the woods after a man, who had originally fled during a traffic stop, crashed his car near Aviation Drive and State Road 100 in Palm Coast, according to a charging affidavit released by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Department.
According to the affidavit, deputies observed a white Dodge Charger with dark-tinted windows in a parking lot of a Circle K, located at 6125 State Road 100 East. The vehicle, which deputies discovered was owned by Affordable Car Rental out of Tampa, was parked at the gas pumps but not close enough to pump gas. Deputies observed the vehicle for 40 minutes before it left.
The vehicle ran the stop sign posted at the Circle K’s exit onto State Road 100. Deputies eventually pulled the vehicle over at the parking lot of the McDonald’s located at 6030 State Road 100 East, but the driver fled as deputies approached the vehicle.
After crashing, the driver, later identified as 24-year-old De’Andre Jackson, fled into the woods after dropping a firearm onto the driver’s side floorboard of the vehicle.
A perimeter was established and a canine was brought to the scene. Jackson was later secured without incident and taken to Florida Hospital Flagler due to his injuries from the crash and from potential hypothermia.
In addition, deputies found additional occupants inside the vehicle: Del Dontay Jackson, who had multiple active warrants for violation of probation, and Wanda Brock, who had a warrant out of Ohio for bad checks.
Del Dontay Jackson was taken to the Flagler County Inmate Facility, and Brock could not be extradited.
During the probable cause search of the vehicle, large amounts of narcotics and paraphernalia were uncovered, according to the affidavit. All together, deputies discovered five grams of marijuana, a package of oxycodone, 2.4 grams of “orange-colored crystal rocks” — which will soon be identified — 53.1 grams of crack cocaine, sealed packages of syringes and a scale.
De’Andre Jackson was charged with driving with a suspended license, leaving scene of accident with injury, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana under 20 grams, possession of oxycodone, trafficking cocaine and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. After being discharged from FHF, he was taken to the Flagler County Inmate Facility without incident.
