Matanzas High School unveiled an all new basketball court at the school's gym on Thursday, June 14. Construction of the new court began on May 30 and was officially completed a day prior to the presentation.

But the school isn't stopping there.

Pirates Athletic Director Zach Rigney said there are several more upgrades in the works, including: a wrap on the front and back of the football field's scoreboard, renovations to the press box, a windscreen around the entire stadium and atop both sets of bleachers, wrap doors to the weight room and the doors entering the gym, and also a new wrap inside the gym with new logos and a pirate ship.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound linebacker picked up an offer from nearby school Stetson University, which is in DeLand. The Hatters are a Division I program that plays in the Atlantic Sun Conference.
