Savannah O'Grady has been named the Flagler County Rotary Student Athlete of the Month for Flagler Palm Coast.

FPC girls soccer coach Pete Hald presented the award to O'Grady, an outstanding student and soccer player who plans to attend Eastern Florida State College and play soccer.

O'Grady, who wants to be a college coach someday, said her mother, an educator, and her father, a college coach, have inspired her. She said she didn't expect to win any awards this year after tearing the ACL in her right knee.

But she said she realized, "Sometimes we get stuck on the tangible things and we don't really focus on the way we impact people and the relationships we hold with them. The relationships you build with people are way more important than any awards you can stand up here and get."
