The Halifax Health Charles L and Miki N Grant Cancer Center for Hope has received full, 4-year Novalis Certification for both its cranial and extra cranial stereotactic cancer treatment programs.

This certification is awarded by the Novalis Expert Group for exceptional care in stereotactic radiosurgery and stereotactic body radiation therapy, according to a press release. This third-party validation certification is an optional certification.

The Halifax Health Cancer Center for Hope is the second cancer center to receive this certification in the state of Florida.

The Novalis Certification is for cranial and extra cranial cancer sites. Stereotactic radiosurgery is a treatment method which targets individual cranial, or brain tumors, as opposed to the more traditional cancer treatment of whole brain radiation.

By limiting treatment to the specific lesions, this helps protect healthy brain tissue while precisely delivering radiation to the cancer cells.
