The faces of one hundred Ormond Beach residents who served in the U.S. Armed Forces line both sides of the Granada bridge.
The city's "Hometown Heroes" military appreciation banner program runs through the end of November. Sponsored by Halifax Health, the free program aims to "honor and pay tribute to Ormond Beach’s military heroes for their sacrifice and service in our nation’s armed services," according to the city's website. The banner slots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis annually, and are open for honorably discharged veterans, those in active service and those who died in the line of duty.
On Saturday, Nov. 4, the city hosted its Hometown Heroes drive-thru recognition at the Ormond Beach Senior Center. Hometown Heroes honorees received a free lunch.
The banner program first launched in 2019.
