The Palm Coast Observer asked people what Memorial Day means to them. Here is what they had to say:
Lisa Anderson: “I came here today for my dad, who was a purple heart.”
Michael Denning: “It means a lot to both of us in our family just because people sacrificed everything so we could have what we have today. I think that Memorial Day shouldn’t be one day a year.”
Valerie Arnett: “It means remember the men and women of our country who gave their lives. It means remembering my father who was in World War II, Korea and Vietnam.”
Scott DuPont: “I believe that we should never forget the price that was paid, the men and woman that sacrificed their lives for our country, for our freedom, that we enjoy every day. I think we should never forget out fallen heroes.”
Al Thorpe: “Freedom. To honor the people that served ahead of me.”
Blanche Valentine: “It’s a tribute a matter of respect. A lot of people say the services are too early. Well, I’ve been involved in invasions that happen at 3 in the morning. So, for your troops, it’s never too early."
