Sheriff's deputies arrest 25, rescue dog over weekend

Flagler County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 25 people during stepped-up patrols over the Aug. 29-Sept. 1 holiday weekend, and issued 43 traffic tickets, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.

“The combined efforts of our road deputies and marine unit resulted in a safer holiday weekend,” Sheriff James L. Manfre said in the news release.

Deputies also conducted 247 traffic stops and issued 204 written or verbal warnings. Three of the 25 arrests were for driving under the influence.

The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit rescued a dog named Freeway who had fallen into a canal, completed 20 boat stops and made 18 field contacts, assisted the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission on three occasions and removed a damaged channel marker that had been hit and dragged into the center of the channel.
