Mitchell Noel hires executive

Mitchell Noel Agency has hired Jimmy Foster as an account executive. A lifelong resident of Ormond Beach, Foster's professional career has included being a NASCAR Driver and commercial real estate agent.

His memberships include Rotary Club of Ormond Beach (president elect), Daytona Checkered Flag Committee and Daytona Beach Quarterback Club-Team Member.

Hospital names director for neurosciences

Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center has named Maryann Fields as the director of the hospital’s neurosciences service line. A graduate of State University of New York, Fields most recently served as trauma program director at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York,.

Real estate up statewide, down locally

The statewide median sales price for single-family existing homes last month was $175,000, up 6.1% from the previous year, according to data from Florida Realtors. The median is the midpoint, meaning that half the homes sold for more and half for less. Closed sales of single-family homes statewide totaled 21,385 last month, up 4.1% over the April, 2013 figure.

Florida Realtors reported a downward trend in the Daytona Beach area. Closed sales in April, 2014, were 347, compared to 380 one year ago, for a decrease of 8.7%. The median sales price, locally, was $145,000, compared to $149,000 one year ago, a decrease of 2.7%.

According to Freddie Mac, the interest rate for a 30-year, fixed-rate mortgage averaged 4.34% in April, up from the 3.45% average recorded in April, 2013.
