Two men who arrived to a home on Belleaire Drive to evict a tenant and another man he’d subletted the home to were threatened with a gun and a machete when they tried, they told sheriff’s deputies.

Marc Ichart, James Deal and Marshall Carlile all told deputies that Ichart and Deal, representing homeowners who lived in New Jersey, had come to the home Wednesday, March 5, to talk about landlord-tenant issues with Carlile, the original tenant, according to a charging affidavit.

Carlile invited them in.

The two men told Carlile they’d be evicting him for subletting the home to another man, Jordan Hezekiah Mullings, and Mullings’ family.

There was an argument.

Mullings, 23, appeared with a machete in one hand and a small pistol the men described as a 9mm in the other hand, Carlile, Ichart and Deal told deputies.

The arguing continued. Mullings pointed the pistol at Ichart and Deal and threatened to shoot them, according to the report.

Deputies read Mullings his Miranda rights. He told them what the other three men said wasn’t true, and that he didn’t own a gun, although he did have a machete.

Deputies searched the home and found a machete but not a gun.

They arrested Mullings on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and took him to the Flagler County jail.
