Local spa owner celebrates more then one mile stone in first year of business.

When Gladys Allen opened Amazing You Day Spa last year, she hoped to gain at least 200 clients. That goal was quickly passed, and her spa now has more than 1,000 clients.

Allen, ecstatic about her spa’s first successful year, said it was a unhappy career that lead her to open Amazing You.

“I have been a spa junkie most of my adult life,” Allen said, “and I had a very stressful job. I turned 50 and said, 'I don’t want to do this anymore.' I want to help people not feel the way I do when they go to work. So I went to school and opened the spa.”

The spa’s first anniversary is Feb. 22, and Allen is already preparing for next year’s goals.

“I want to get more locals and more regulars,” Allen said. “I hope to expand this year to have more treatment rooms and to introduce maybe hair. Just basically get people in the right frame of mind, de-stress and relax.”
