Sea Ray plant set to hire 160

Brunswick Corp. is planning to hire 160 workers for its Sea Ray Boats plant in Palm Coast.

About half of those positions are being filled now, Brunswick Corp. representative Dan Kubera said, and the rest will be filled between March and September.

The positions, all in boat production, are being added because the plant will be producing several new Sea Ray models, Kubera said.

Sea Ray is one of the county's largest employers, and the Palm Coast plant has gone through cycles of hires and layoffs in recent years. Sixty-five employees were cut in May 2012.

The Brunswick Corps halted production at its Sykes Creek plant on Merrit Island last summer, and representatives at the time told the Palm Coast Observer that could create more jobs at the Palm Coast plant.
