Registration begins for Palm Coast's Arbor Day runs

Palm Coast will host two runs for folks who’d like to hit the city’s tree-shaded pavement this Arbor Day.

The city’s 5K Root Run/Walk and 1 Mile Flutter Foam Fun Run/Walk will be held May 3.

The 5K Root Run/Walk will begin at 8 a.m., and the 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk will start at 9 a.m. Both events will be held near Central Park in Town Center at 975 Central Ave.

Awards will presented at the Central Park Main Stage after the race, and there will be a free Arbor Day 2014 celebration from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Central Park.

There will be environmental and zoo exhibits, wildlife shows and a K-9 demonstration. People who bring canned food or pet food items can exchange them for a three-gallon native hardwood tree, while supplies last.

Registration for the Flutter Foam Fun Run/Walk is $10, and 5K Root Run/Walk is $25 for early registration or $30 the day of the event and the day before the event.
