A motorcyclist from St. Augustine was seriously injured Friday evening when he was clipped by a van, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Allen Shepard, 32, was traveling north on U.S. 1 on his Suzuki motorcycle around 8:25 p.m.

Samantha Goodridge, 44, of Apopka, was stopped at the intersection of Matanzas Woods Parkway and U.S. 1.

Goodridge then attempted to cross the northbound lanes to head south on U.S. 1, and Shepard struck the left rear passenger’s side of Goodridge’s van, the report states.

Shepard, who was wearing a helmet, was airlifted to Halifax Hospital with serious injuries, according to the FHP.

Goodridge was charged with violation of a right-of-way, the report states.

Earlier this week, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office issued a reminder to motorists of Biktoberfest.

The Sheriff’s Office expects an increase in motorcycle traffic on Flagler roads throughout the weekend.
