With six games down, Flagler Palm Coast Bulldogs (4-2) have three games left on the schedule this season, with two of them against district opponents: First Coast and Mandarin.

Although FPC can’t mathematically be eliminated from playoff contention with a loss this week, a defeat to First Coast (5-1), who are coming off a 59-0 rout of Andrew Jackson High School, would certainly make the road to the postseason a lot harder to manage. And so, Friday’s game, and every remaining game, is a must-win for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs are coming into this week’s game on a three-game winning streak — FPC hasn’t lost since Week 4 at Sandalwood.

FPC coach Caesar Campana knows the challenge coming up for the Bulldogs, and he said that his team is “absolutely” heading into must-win games. He also says that his team “has to win against First Coast.”

“Our complete focus will be on how to stop their explosive offense, which has all kinds of weapons — rushing and passing,” Campana said.

Campana said First Coast will be the most talented team the Bulldogs have played in many years, and FPC’s players said they expect Friday’s game to be the toughest of their season.

First Coast, which is 1-0 in District 1-8A, is in first place, but a win this week for FPC could place them in a tie atop the district.

“These next two games are must-win games,” FPC offensive lineman Jake Dempsey said.
