Children stood around three tables at the Palm Coast Community Center last week, some too short to reach their plates. But, with the help of their mothers, the little Guy Fieris and Rachael Rays carefully spread pizza sauce on English muffins.

The morning cooking activity was a new program put on by the city of Palm Coast’s Parks and Recreation Department for ages 2-5. This first Little Chef program focused on spooktacular healthy treats: pizza mummies.

There are two more Little Chef programs scheduled before the end of the year, Turkey Trotters Applesauce Nov. 12, and Santa’s Helpers Dec. 17. Participation is free, but pre-register by calling 986-2323 or visiting http://www.palmcoastgov.com/government/parks-recreation/programs.

Pizza Mummies
What you need:
English muffins
Pizza sauce
Black olives
Green pepper
Pull-apart mozzarella cheese sticks

What to do:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly toast English muffins. Spread a tablespoon of pizza sauce onto half of each muffin.

Place olive slices at eye level on the mummy muffin and add round bits of green pepper for pupils. Pull apart cheese sticks and lay strips of cheese different ways across the muffin for the mummy’s wrappings. Use one cheese per muffin.

Cook 10 minutes.
