Postponed: Make art, win $500? Festivals seek artists

Flagler Fine Art Festivals has postponed its first “Assemblage Art Challenge" to raise awareness for Coastal Cleanup until February. The Flagler Fine Arts Fesitval will still be held 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17.

Entrants will create an assemblage art piece on-site in less than five hours, incorporating five mystery elements gathered during the last cleanup.

The cost for teh challenge is $25. Enter or apply online at flaglerfineartsfestival.com.

The festival will also feature juried fine art from Florida artists and student artwork from Flagler Palm Coast High School and Florida School of the Arts, performing arts by Magic Mondo and the Joy Paris Duo and children's crafts sponsored by FPC.


Around Town…
The Memory Makers Quilt Guild is raffling off a quil Dec. 4 that the group has made. Proceeds will benefit Flagler County 4H, Master Gardeners and Memory Makers Quilt Guild. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5 and may be purchased at Sew & Quilt Shop, in Bunnell; or Byrd's Nest Quilt Shop, in Palm Coast. The quilt is currently on display at the Sew & Quilt Shop.

The Garden Club at Palm Coast Inc. will award three $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors who are residents of Flagler County and furthering their education in horticulture, agriculture, environmental studies or related fields. Applications are available at Flagler Palm Coast and Matanzas high schools, the Flagler County libraries, St. Joseph Academy or www.gcpcinc.org. The deadline for applications is Jan. 15.

The winners in the Flagler County Library’s student photography contest are as follows: first place, Hanna Franklin; second, Taylor LaForest; third Lydia Linden-Cox; and honorable mentions Brittany Jeffers and Melanie DiMartino.
