When Intracostal Bank was created in 2008, Chief Financial Officer Cheryl Tanenbaum said, most of the local banks were big chains. “Flagler County did not have a local community bank, and we felt there was a huge need for a local community bank in our market, so we decide to start one," she said. "There are things a small bank can do that a big one can’t."

“We make all our decisions locally, so we're faster,” Tanenbaum said. “And because we're a smaller bank, we’re able to offer the latest and greatest technology."

Intracoastal Bank Vice President Laurie Alves said the bank values serving the community. “We have reinvested $100 million back into Flagler and Volusia counties,” she said. “All the money we take in, we give back in loans. That’s $100 million that has put our people and community back to work, helped businesses get started, stay alive and expand.”
