A deputy accused of domestic violence was reassigned to administrative duties and forced to surrender his firearms to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office, according to Lt. Robert Weber, public information officer for the Sheriff's Office.

Deputy Brandon Fiveash received his reassignment with pay after his former girlfriend, who is the mother of a child they have in common, filed for and received an injunction against Fiveash alleging domestic violence against her and her child.

Fiveash received his reassignment and surrendered his firearms Wednesday afternoon. The matter will be reviewed and the Sheriff's Office will then decide whether an internal investigation will be opened, Weber said.

"It is our understanding at this time that (Fiveash's former girlfriend) filed for the injunction after Deputy Fiveash had filed for full custody of their child with the courts," Weber said.
