Sea Ray could hire about 100 new employees and bring back even more who were laid off, a spokesperson said Thursday.

Daniel Kubera, director of media relations and corporate communications for the Brunswick Corp., said Thursday via email: “Exact numbers are not known and will develop over time."

Kubera did say no one has been hired yet.

About three months ago, the Brunswick Corp. announced it would suspend manufacturing at its Sykes Creek boat facility in Merritt Island at the end of June. Officials at the time said that could lead to more jobs in Palm Coast.

Sea Ray’s facility in Flagler has seen a fluctuation of hires and layoffs over the years. Once the largest employer in the county, Sea Ray most recently cut 65 employees in May 2012.

Earlier this month, Flagler County economic development officials announced that Gioia Sails Southern Division would be relocating its Florida operation to town. Gioia Sails manufactures canvas sailing products and works closely with Sea Ray.
