Deputies are investigating an armed burglary with assault that happened in Palm Coast’s B-section Wednesday.

A victim told the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office that around 8:30 p.m. he was alone in his garage, with its door open by about a foot.

Then, the door opened, revealing two black males, both over 6 feet tall. One held a firearm and the other was wearing a black ski mask. Both were wearing dark clothing and hoodies. The victim said the masked man grabbed him by the T-shirt and punched him two or three times in the back of the head.

The men demanded the victim give them his valuables, but shortly after, the victim’s parents entered the garage, and the two men fled on foot without taking anything.

Deputies and paramedics responded to collect statements and assess the victim’s injury. The victim declined transport in an ambulance but said he would be going to the hospital.

The victims said they waited about 20 minutes to report the attempted burglary and were “very vague on answering questions,” according to an incident report. The victim’s mother was not home when deputies responded, and when she returned to the residence, said she had gone to the store to buy cigarettes.

An evidence technician then arrived and processed the scene. He found a black bandana on the sidewalk nearby. The victim’s T-shirt, which was stretched from the assault, was also taken into evidence.

All responding deputies were unable to locate any males matching the descriptions or any suspicious vehicles leaving the area. A K-9 deputy was unable to perform a track on the suspects. Another investigation will be done at a further date.
