Bunnell Elementary School students collected 223 pound, a total of 285,440 tabs, to win the trophy for the Pop the Tab Contest, a Ronald McDonald House Charities contest.

A few months ago, Palm Coast McDonalds also did a month long Pennies for the Heart fundraiser, in which the residents of Flagler County more than $3,400 to go to Ronald McDonald House. This was the largest amount Palm Coast McDonalds had ever done, the community more than double previous record.

“This just goes to show even though we are in difficult times in our economy today that people still have a heart and really care,” said Cindy Lott, of McDonalds, Pisces 2 Inc., local store marketing. “I just want to say thanks to all the residents and students of Bunnell Elementary for doing such a wonderful and thoughtful deed.”

Bunnell Elementary was presented with a $500 gift card to be used for whatever the school needs and the winning trophy, which gets passed each year to the school that collects the most pop can tabs.
