In an attempt to entice a new business to come to the area, the Flagler County Board of County Commissioners approved on Monday an incentive package for Project Green Dream, an undisclosed company that is currently considering locating within the county.

The name of the company is withheld during negotiations, but if it comes to Flagler, it is expected to create 300 jobs within three years. The average salary for those jobs is about $43,000.

Flagler County will offer the company $500 per job created, to be paid annually over the course of four years, for a total cost of up to $150,000. The incentive will be paid only if the jobs are created.

The company, which produces LED lighting and other technology for the aviation, marine, vehicle, mining, industrial and obstruction warning and safety markets, is expected to bring $7.5 million in capital investments.

Earlier this month, the incentive package was approved by the Flagler County Economic Opportunity Advisory Council. It was approved by the County Commission during a regular meeting June 17.

New webcam to be installed along Intracoastal Waterway

A new webcam and wireless Internet transmitter will be installed in Flagler Beach, on top of the Aliki Condominiums, as a part of a project meant to post real-time views of the Intracoastal Waterway to county websites.

The Flagler County Board of County Commissioners approved on June 17 a contract with the Aliki Gold Coast Condominium No. One management company to install the cameras and wireless transmitters. By fall, the images of the waterway, as well as tide and surf information, will be available on the Flagler County website as well as on the site for the Tourist Development Council.

The condominium association will provide a lease for its rooftop for free for three years, after which the contract will be renegotiated. The contract was approved by the commission unanimously.
