Last week, employees from the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office received training on leadership, ethics and integrity. In all, 208 employees participated in the four-hour training seminars.

During the first hour of each seminar, Sheriff Jim Manfre provided a presentation on the agency’s mission and his vision for its future.

Following his presentation, keynote speaker Mr. Ancil B. Sparks, a former special agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, conducted the seminars.

Sparks retired from the FBI after 32 years of service. For 25 of those years Sparks was a supervisory special agent assigned to the FBI Academy in Quantico, Va., where he provided instruction to new FBI Special Agents and members of the FBI National Academy. Sparks taught both undergraduate- and graduate-level courses as an adjunct faculty member with the University of Virginia, Charlottesville for 25 years during his tenure at the FBI Academy.

“I believe that the training provided by Mr. Sparks to our employees was extremely important and will help us to strengthen the core foundation of our agency as we continue to grow,” Manfre said. “No matter how successful a person may be in their life, there is always room for improvement, whether you are in an entry-level or an upper-management position.”
