Flagler County Sheriff Jim Manfre announced Wednesday the results of the Sheriff’s Office’s participation in the national “Click It or Ticket campaign that took place Nov. 18 to Dec. 1.

While safety belt use was the primary focus of the enforcement effort, the Sheriff’s Office also removed three impaired drivers from roadways. In addition, deputies issued 139 safety belt citations, 55 speeding citations, issued 12 uninsured motorist citations, made 10 arrests for driving with a suspended license, nine arrests for drugs and 24 additional felony arrests during the two-week campaign.

“Programs such as Click it or Ticket help remind drivers of the importance of wearing their seat belt and making sure that their passengers buckle-up, as well,” Manfre said in a statement. “The goal of programs such as this is not about issuing tickets; it’s about saving lives and reducing the number of severe injuries often associated with motor vehicle crashes.”
