In 1911, a plane landed on an aircraft carrier for the first time. The first Indianapolis 500 car race was held. Ronald Reagan and actors Vincent Price, Lucille Ball and Roy Rogers were born. And, so was Matilda “Tillie” Sapienza, who might be the second-oldest living resident in Palm Coast.

On Aug. 15, Sapienza will celebrate her 102nd birthday with friends and family at Magnolia Manor. When asked how it feels to be 102, Sapienza told her granddaughter Michele Sapienza-Lentino: “Who’s 102, me? Can’t be! Where has all the time gone?”

Granddaughter Denise Sapienza-Levey added: “She is one of a kind, and through all her years, Tillie has touched the lives of many. Our family is so grateful to be blessed with all the years and memories we have and continue to have with our grandmother.”
