The Ormond Beach Police Department arrested Daytona Beach's Matthew W. Fanok, 28, Sunday, for home invasion robbery and battery on an Ormond Beach senior.

Police were dispatched at 9:44 p.m. Sunday, to the home of 82-year-old Ellis Galbreath, at 634 Tomoka Ave., regarding a suspicious incident. Galbreath told officers that Fanok entered his home, rifled through his refrigerator and took out beer and soda. Fanok then confronted Galbreath, asked where he kept his gun and then punched him in the face.

Galbreath grabbed a wrench to defend himself, then Fanok left.

Minutes later, the victim pointed out Fanok, who was standing in front of a neighbor's house, to a responding officer. The neighbors then came out of the home claiming that Fanok had barged in and ransacked the place looking for a gun.

During questioning, Fanok said that he had recently been discharged from Halifax Health and was looking for a firearm in order to commit suicide. He was charged with burglary of an occupied dwelling, criminal mischief, home invasion robbery and battery on a person 65 years of age or older.
