Freytag Children and Adult Rehab Center opens

Florida Hospital Flagler hosted an open house Monday to commemorate the opening of the Freytag Children and Adult Rehab Center and the Women’s Health Center in the hospital’s Parkway Medical Plaza.

This marks the completion of the plaza, which first opened its doors in July but now has a new imaging center for women and a rehabilitation center encompassing more than 3,000 square feet to finish it off.

The $15 million facility was largely funded by donations from Peter and Sue Freytag, who were honored at the open house event.

Bridget Bergens, the director of Florida Hospital Flagler Rehab, choked up as she thanked the Freytag family for their support.

“You’ll be in our memories forever, and we’ll never forget your generosity,” she said. “Had it not been for you, I don’t believe we would have this today.”

And what they have is the largest rehabilitation center in Flagler and Volusia counties. Less than a decade ago, the center started with a staff of three therapists. Bergens was one of them.

Now, the center employs 34 therapists and sees upwards of 100 patients each day.
