It’s about time to dust off your bowling balls and lace up your bowling shoes.

Palm Coast Lanes is officially open for business, said Tim Carroll, chief operating officer of the bowling alley.

“It’s going to be the same bowling alley you left two Tuesdays ago,” Carroll said. “It’ll just be cleaner, but there will be the same faces — for the most part.”

Mike Weller will retain his position as general manager and will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the business and facility.

The bowling alley, previously known as Coquina Lanes, has been closed since Sept. 18, when an electrical fire broke out in a storage room. Earlier this month, the investment group foreclosed on the owner.

The property and the business are owned by a private investment group comprising individuals “with strong current and past ties to Palm Coast,” according to Carroll.

For legal reasons, the bowling alley will now be known as Palm Coast Lanes. Carroll said it is not technically considered a re-opening. Instead, it’s a new opening because it had to be a separate entity from Coquina Lanes.

The city approved its final inspection and gave the bowling alley its certificate of occupancy Monday afternoon. By Tuesday morning, the doors were open.

For now, the kitchen and the bar area are not open. The licensing for both has been submitted, and Carroll hopes they will be open by the end of the week.

“There will be no dramatic changes made in the short term.” Carroll said. “The goal is to get the business running. The staff will remain, and they have the knowledge and the experience. We’ll rely on them heavily to have a seamless startup.”

All of the leagues will remain intact, Carroll said. Leagues were scheduled to resume bowling Tuesday night.

New signs should be up by the end of the week, Carroll said.
