+ Palm Coast rejects county’s fee proposal
The Palm Coast City Council on Tuesday rejected the county’s proposal to spend $2.8 million of what Palm Coast officials argue are the city’s impact fee dollars on the Matanzas Woods Parkway interchange at Interstate 95, saying that’s not the city’s top priority.

City officials believe the state will fund the I-95 interchange and that there is no need to use local dollars to expedite it.

The North Pine Lakes Parkway project was the top priority, according to Tuesday’s presentation. That comes with a $2.2 million price tag. Next was $200,000 on the Royal Palms Parkway Phase 2 project.

Mayor Jon Netts said money should be spent on the areas surrounding Matanzas Woods Parkway. Doing those projects would require the city to purchase right of ways, however; the prices on those are being appraised.

Palm Harbor Parkway extension, south of Forest Grove Drive to Old Kings Road, would be next and would cost $2.7 million. A $9.9 million extension of Old Kings Road at Forest Grove Drive would be next.

Netts said these projects would relieve a traffic burden on the city once the I-95 interchange is built.

The City Council and the Flagler County Board of County Commissioners will schedule a meeting to determine what should happen with the impact fees collected between 2000 and 2004, a total of $4.2 million.
