The Wadsworth Elementary School Community Problem Solvers team took second place in the state competition Wednesday, March 21, at the Wyndham Lake Buena Vista Resort, in Orlando.

The project, entitled “Say something ... don’t be a victim!” seeks to empower students who have been bullied. The program aims to stop the problem by saying something to a person in authority.

To get the message out, the students wrote and illustrated a children’s book that they are reading to students in first through sixth grades. After discussing the problem, the CmPS team will give students a wristband with the message, “Say something ... don’t be a victim!” as a reminder that they have the power to stop bullies.

In addition, the team made public service announcements that ran on the school’s morning show.

Future plans include meeting with the Palm Coast Rotary Club and attending the Bunnell Potato Festival as an outreach to the community. The team is now fundraising to attend the International Future Problem Solvers conference, which will be held June 7 to June 10, at Indian University.
