+ Wire manufacturer to expand 9,800 square feet
Commercial real-estate brokerage firm Charles Wayne Properties Inc. announced Jan. 6 the leasing of 9,800 square feet of warehouse/distribution space at 9 Industry Drive, by Kanthal Corp., for an expansion to Sandvick Palm Coast, a wire manufacturer.

The space is located in the Hargrove Industrial Complex.

+ John Walsh named Florida Hospital Flagler chief medical officer
Cardio-thoracic surgeon Dr. John Walsh has been named Florida Hospital Flagler’s chief medical officer.

David Ottati, hospital CEO, recently created the chief position to “strengthen relationships between physicians, clinicians and non-clinicians,” according to a hospital release.

Dr. Walsh will also continue his surgical practice, but will have a part-time office in the hospital’s administration.

With nearly 30 years of experience, Walsh has practiced in Palm Coast for more than seven years and was recently recognized as one of America’s top surgeons by the Consumer’s Research Council of America. He has been Florida Hospital Flagler’s chief of surgery since 2008 and has served on the hospital’s board of directors for three years.

+ Olley Oogleberry lands at Atlanta trade show
The blue, sparkly alien Olley Oogleberry, the first character created by Palm Coast-based Tickle Me Silly LLC, made an appearance at the Atlanta International Gift Market, Jan. 10 to Jan. 18. At the show, the company presented its new line of alien plush dolls and a companion adventure story book, “The Fabulous Adventures of Olley Oogleberry: Mission to Planet Earth.”

+ Despite industry shifts, PC Pharmacy still to accept insurances
According to Yelena Krayter, of Palm Coast Pharmacy, at 9 Pine Cone Drive, although other major pharmacies such as Walgreen’s will no longer accept Tricare and Express Prescription Insurance patients starting this year, her company will continue to do so.

A few months after closing her personally owned housing agency to join Re/Max Heritage Realty, real-estate broker Fern Masters has reopened Flagship Realty of Palm Coast, explaining, “I missed my business too much.”

+ E’lan Hair Studio adds FTI-graduate stylist
Twenty-two-year-old Christopher Dovale has been hired as E’lan Hair Studio’s sixth and newest stylist.

“(Cosmetology) has always been a passion of mine,” Dovale said. “I love everything about hair.”

The 2-month-old company is working on hiring a seventh stylist, according to Co-owner Tim Dudkewic.
