Long distance relationship works! Flagler Beach-Canada couple to wed

Mike Vitello, son of Maureen and Phil Vitello, of Flagler Beach, recently got engaged to Candice Wimmer, of Vancouver, Canada.

The two met while attending a Christian athletes meeting at Thomas University. Vitello, a 2004 FPC graduate, played baseball at the university, and Wimmer played softball.

After graduation, Vitello went on to obtain his master’s degree, and Wimmer returned to Canada.

Brokenhearted, both went separate ways: Wimmer, moving to Dubai to work as a flight attendant, while Vitello took a position in Orlando, at Altadis USA.

They Skyped daily and finally realized they were meant to be together. In December, Vitello flew to Vancouver and proposed. They hope to marry in 2012.
