Nineteen cars competed under the lights Jan. 6, at Flagler Beach’s annual Pinewood Derby, held at First Friday.

The Flagler Beach Fire Department took first place in the adult division with its car, “Fast,” and third place with a second car, “Faster.” Flagler County Florida Outdoors broke up the domination with a second-place finish.

In the children’s division, James Triplett won first place with his car, “Orange Crush,” Tyler Dalecki won second place with “Shark,” and Austin McKay won third with “Dinosaur Train.”

The city of Flagler Beach will host its first Slow Cooker Showdown Feb. 3. There will be awards given in three categories: appetizers, main courses and desserts. Registration forms are available at www.cityofflaglerbeach.com.
