+ Pre-schoolers sing at hospital
More than 30 4- and 5-year-old children visited Florida Hospital Flagler, Monday, Feb. 20, to sing for patients and visitors.
The children are in the pre-K choir at United Methodist Christian School, 5200 Belle Terre Parkway, and sang songs including “Lord’s Army,” “Build Each Other Up,” and “Jesus Loves Me” at the hospital’s visitor’s entrance lobby.
“It is such a joy to hear these little voices singing praises,” said Chaplain Robert Nickell. “It was a blessing to have the children visit our hospital.”
+ Old Kings students learn dental health
Dr. Jesse Bech and Dr. Sean Magee visited students at Old Kings Elementary Friday Feb. 17, to teach kindergarten and first-grade students about dental health.
They brought visuals for the students to make it a meaningful experience. One visual was a big stuffed fish with teeth that looked real. Bech used this prop to show the students how to brush their teeth properly.
Another visual aid was a box with a happy tooth and another box with an unhappy tooth. Magee told the students that cavities like sugar, so anything that has sugar will go inside the unhappy tooth box. The dentists then asked the students to place the food inside the appropriate box.
A goody bag filled with a toothbrush, floss, toothpaste and a sticker, followed the visit.
