When you walk into Z-Music Store, which was opened by Gene Kisselev and Alex Gourin in January, the first thing that strikes you is a massive display of acoustic and electric guitars in prices that range from budget-minded beginners to high-end professionals. There are also stringed instruments from the banjo to the viola, woodwinds with a full complement of reeds, and brass instruments with mouthpieces and valves.

Kisselev, with many years as a professional jazz musician, also handles brass and woodwind instrument maintenance and repairs that can be done in house. Gourin, a professional rock guitarist, tackles most stringed instrument maintenance and minor repairs. Chris Ware, a local guitar designer and maker, serves as their luthier when repairs are too involved for Gourin.

A certified fretted instrument technician, Ware designs and crafts guitars and ukuleles. His unique Custom Ware Guitar creations can be seen at customwareguitars.com, as well as examples you can play in the Z Music store.

For the true audiophile guitarist, Z Music offers Pulsar full-tube amps built on the Fender Bassman industry standard chassis model — in tweed. Steve Pulcifer custom-makes each.

The store is located at 210 Old Kings Road S., Suite 100, Flagler Beach, and opened in January. Future plans for the store include expanding retail space and sponsoring some music seminars and meetings with industry professional musicians and artists. Call 693-4817 for more.
