Enterprise Flagler, which will close operations Sept. 30, has issued a public economic-development survey, to measure Flagler County’s strengths and weaknesses.
In conjunction with North Florida’s economic development arm, the JAXUSA Partnership, Enterprise Flagler is soliciting public input.
The Innovate Northeast Florida initiative begins with a survey to identify the region’s target industries.
“Together with the JAXUSA Partnership, we are helping create a strategy that will establish a regional vision and action plan for economic growth,” said Greg Rawls, Enterprise Flagler’s executive director.
(Rawls is also being considered as the transitional leader of Flalger County’s proposed Economic Development Council.)
Including Flagler, seven counties are participating in the study — Duval, St. Johns, Nassau, Clay and Putnam. As of Sept. 19, 1,462 people have taken the survey, 863 of which, or 59.4%, from Duval.
Representatives from Palm Coast, Bunnell, Flagler Beach, Flagler County, the Flagler County Chamber of Commerce & Affiliates and the private sector met with consultants to outline Flagler’s current strengths, weaknesses, labor force and lifestyle.
County Commissioner and Enterprise Flagler board member Barbara Revels noted in a release for the survey that although the study covers all regional issues, local information will be extracted, essentially making it a Flagler County economic development survey.
“The more responses we receive, the better able the consulting team will be to craft a strategy specific to our needs,” said Jerry Mallot, president of JAXUSA.
