According to Flagleremergency.com, Monday rain dropped the drought index to 494 and the fire danger to "Low."

“The rain certainly helped, but we need more,” said Carl Laundrie, communications manager for Flagler County. “We need some regular rain fall over a period of a month to really turn things around; otherwise, a few days of hot weather, and we are right back where we were before this weekend.”

Monday, four inches of rain was recorded in west Palm Coast, the highest recorded in the county, with 3.63 inches recorded in east Palm Coast.

Flagler Beach saw 2.14 inches, and Bunnell recorded 2 inches.

Short storms with heavy rainfall are familiar to Flagler residents.

The heaviest recorded rainfall in Flagler County, according to Bob Pickering, of Flagler Emergency Managment, was in October 1989, when some areas of the county received 16 inches of rain in four hours, mainly in Palm Coast.
