+ FPC bowling splits Atlantic
The Flagler Palm Coast Bulldogs boys bowling team picked up its second straight win, while the girls team suffered its second loss, as the teams squared off Sept. 13 against Atlantic High School.
The boys team (2-2) won the match against Seabreeze (0-5), winning all three games. FPC’s high game was by Scott Lightcap, who bowled a 203.
The boys team won the match 2,045 to 1,788.
On the girls side, the Lady Bulldogs (2-2) fell to Atlantic (5-0) in three straight games.
The high score for FPC was by Robyn Spicer, who bowled a 185.
The girls team lost the match 2,189 to 1,639.
+ Charity golf tourney
The Flagler County Education Foundation will be holding a charity golf tournament to benefit Flagler County students.
The tournament, which will take place at Plantation Bay Golf Club & Resort this year, will be the FCEF’s 21st tournament.
Registration for the tournament will be 11 a.m. Oct. 7, followed by a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start.
Cost is $100 and sponsorship opportunities are available.

+ Hoops, volleyball signups
Lots of spiking and slam dunking will fill the gymnasium at Indian Trails Middle School this fall.
The city of Palm Coast will bring adult coed volleyball and basketball to town beginning Monday, Sept. 12.
Volleyball players must be older than 18.
Games will be played 7-9:30 p.m. Monday and Wednesday nights, until Dec. 19. Cost is $43.
For basketball, you can shoot hoops 7-9:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Games run through Dec. 20. Cost is $43. Players must be older than 18.
Indian Trails Middle School is located at 5505 Belle Terre Parkway.

+ Jets waive Mardy Gilyard
Mardy Gilyard is without work — again.
Gilyard, the 2005 FPC graduate, was waived Saturday morning by the New York Jets, marking the second time in a one-week span for the wide receiver.
Thursday afternoon, Gilyard posted a picture to his Facebook page of his new locker, drawing plenty of comments from friends, fans and family about being back in white and green, the same colors he wore while at FPC.
However, on his Twitter page Friday afternoon, Gilyard tweeted: “On such a mental roller- coaster right now smh.......#” (SMH is an acronym for “shaking my head.”)
The transaction didn’t process until Saturday morning.
+ FPC falls to Seabreeze
The Flagler Palm Coast Bulldogs football team collapsed in the fourth quarter Thursday, Sept. 8, allowing Seabreeze to score 19 unanswered points en route to a 40-13 victory.
The Bulldogs (1-1) trailed 21-13 early in the fourth quarter, but turnovers led to FPC’s demise.
“We couldn’t tackle their tailback, and we couldn’t score when we needed to,” FPC coach Caesar Campana said, referring to Seabreeze’s Trevaughn Rodriguez, who had 161 yards rushing for three touchdowns.
The Bulldogs hope to get their second win of the season when they host New Smryna Beach 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16.
+ Matanzas tops Florida Air
The Matanzas Pirates cleaned up the penalties, dominated the ground game and scored a two-point conversion.
All of that was enough Friday, Sept. 9, as the Pirates earned their first victory of the season with a 50-13 drubbing of Florida Air Academy.
Quarterback Al’Kwazi Spencer went 12-for-21 for 200 yards and one touchdown.
The Pirates (1-1) host University Christian 7 p.m. Friday.
