Enterprise Flagler has announced a co-op with northern economic development arm the JAXUSA Partnership, and is soliciting public input.
The “Innovate Northeast Florida” initiative begins with a survey, meant to identify the region’s target industries. Some of the questions on the survey are as follows:
“How well, on a scale of 1-5, does northeast Florida meet your expectations in education, job availability, wages, entertainment, arts/culture and race relations?”
And, “What does successful economic development mean to you?”
“Together with the JAXUSA Partnership, we are helping create a strategy that will establish a regional vision and action plan for economic growth,” said Greg Rawls, Enterprise Flagler’s executive director.
Including Flagler, seven counties are participating in the study — Duval, St. Johns, Nassau, Clay and Putnam. Representatives from Palm Coast, Bunnell, Flagler Beach, the county, the Flagler County Chamber of Commerce & Affiliates and the private sector met with consultants to outline Flagler’s current strengths, weaknesses, labor force and lifestyle.
County Commissioner and Enterprise Flagler board member Barbara Revels noted, in a release for the survey, that although the study covers all regional issues, local information will be extracted, essentially making it a Flagler County economic development survey.
“The more responses we receive, the better able the consulting team will be to craft a strategy specific to our needs,” said Jerry Mallot, President of JAXUSA.
