+ Enterprise Flagler project could move into airport
The County Commission will discuss, at the Sept. 11 meeting, whether to designate Project Bahia — the code name for a defense-related company that may move into the Flagler County Airport — as a qualified target industry.

If the board designates it as such, Bahia could be offered as much as $8,000 per job in work-creation incentives from the state, according to County Administrator Craig Coffey.

“Enterprise Flagler worked on this quite a bit,” he said. “Ultimately, we want to see them build a building in the county.”

The company, should it close negotiations with the county, would move into the former MH Operations space at the airport.

+ Two men busted for door-to-door meat sales
Flagler County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two men — Matthew Tribble, 28, Portsmouth, Va., and Jason Staufenberger, 26, of Jacksonville — Sept. 1, on a charge of home solicitation without a permit. Both were selling meat from a freezer in the back of their pickup.

Deputies responded to Putter Drive after a Palm Coast Code Enforcement officer reported two independent contractors going door-to-door to selling meat products.

The two admitted not having a permit and said they didn’t know they needed one.

Both men were arrested and transported to the Flagler County Inmate Facility, and both have since been released.

Staufenberger was sentenced to time served, and Tribble posted $100 bail on the charge.

In August, four door-to-door home alarm solicitors were arrested on the same charges.

Sheriff Don Fleming asks residents to call if they are approached by unlicensed solicitors.

+ County plans Carver Center rededication
A public rededication of the George Washington Carver Center is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at 201 Drain St., Bunnell.

Recently refurbished, the 12,880-square-foot center will now be under the direction of a Carver Governance Board, following an agreement between the county, the School Board and the city of Bunnell.
