The September opening at Gallery of Local Art will feature Carolyn Kraemer, first place winner in the America the Beautiful contest, held at GOLA.

Her exhibit, “Palms and Porches,” will be on display 6-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, at Gallery of Local Art, 208 S. Central Ave., Flagler Beach.

Kreamer is a trained biologist and teacher, who shifted her focus from science to art, as she painted the foliage of Central Florida in its relationship to architectural elements.

Colors of the Florida environment show up in her watercolors in planes of light and shadow.

“She does outstanding watercolor,” said Bob Ammon, president of the Flagler County Art League.

Kreamer is a member of the Flagler County Art League, Artists Workshop Inc. of New Smyrna Beach and the Florida Watercolor Society.

FIRST FRIDAY
The U.S. Navy jazz ensemble, Orion, will fill the air with big-band classics and contemporary jazz at Flagler Beach’s First Friday Music in the Park 6-9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, at Veterans Park.

The Flagler Beach Farmers Market will be offering free parking for a donation of at least three nonperishable food items. Matanzas High School FFA will be collecting the food to donate to the Flagler County Food Bank. Parking will open at 5:30 p.m.

The Flagler County Corvette Club will also be showcasing many of its custom cars. And children of all ages can join in a hands-on activity, painting a seaside-themed community mural, which will remain on display all month.
